Hon. Frank J. Guarini H ’94
Elevating Business
Hon. Frank J. Guarini H ’94 never attended Saint Peter’s University, but he’s always had a deep respect for his neighborhood university: “I grew up across the street from Saint Peter’s, and even though I never had a day’s class there, I feel very close to the school. This University is the heart and soul of the community, and it keeps getting stronger. I take immense pride in that.”
His experiences as a World War II veteran, and later, a seven-term member of the United States House of Representatives, cultivated in him a deep sense of responsibility to others that is evident in the philanthropic support he has provided to Hudson County institutions, including Saint Peter’s. Through the decades, Guarini has played an increasingly important role in shaping Saint Peter’s future. His generosity established the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership at Saint Peter’s, a nonpartisan center that hosts discussions with influential leaders to drive public policy discussion of critical issues.
Several years ago, a $10 million gift from the retired congressman established the Frank J. Guarini School of Business, an extraordinary gesture that supports the Peacocks Rise strategic goals of constructing Signature Facilities and instituting academic programs of Greater Distinction. The gift has elevated Saint Peter’s business school through significant capital improvements to facilities, as well as new technologies and academic programs. Reflecting on his Saint Peter’s legacy, Guarini said, “This business school opens the door to new experiences for tomorrow’s leaders. They have a bright and challenging future in this beautiful and complex world. Our young men and women will undoubtedly be benefited by the outstanding education they receive here at Saint Peter’s.”
